Kerry Phillips
Before taking up technical writing as a career, Kerry
gained business experience over sixteen years in a variety of roles,
developing from office administration, through operations, and branch
management, credit control, warehouse and distribution, project
coordination, information systems management and financial control.
Since 1990, Kerry has been a technical writing
contractor involved in developing: design specifications, user manuals,
quick reference cards, training and instructor documentation, business
documentation and online help.
Kerry has also undertaken contracts that included:
software validation testing, training instruction, business analysis and
project management roles, all in conjunction with large commercial
writing projects.
Of particular note is her writing experience that
includes over nine years of documentation and training support on SAP
implementation projects, for fourteen large clients, from release 2 to
release 3, version 4.6 and MySAP Workplace applications.
Kerry has used all the common software applications,
since DOS, and today stays current with the Microsoft Office suite,
Lotus suite and the popular graphics, publishing and authoring desktop
applications.
When not at the keyboard, Kerry enjoys gardening,
sewing, reading and catching up with friends.
Dennis Leane
Dennis commenced his career in electronics as a
telecommunications technician in the defence services before entering
the computer industry in 1972, where he rose from computer engineer to
support engineer and to national customer service manager over the
following fifteen years.
In 1989, Dennis left permanent employment to work as a
contractor in the technical areas of computer and network maintenance,
management, sales and business development.
After nine years that included developing business and
marketing plans, reports and tender for various large organisations and
managing the outsourced, national maintenance contract for the
Australian Tax Office, Dennis embarked on post-graduate studies in
business administration in 1998, and commenced technical writing
contract work in 1999, along with other business services that the
partnership provides.
Dennis received his MBA (Technology Management) in 2003
through APESMA/ Deakin University.
Dennis is also experienced with all the current desktop
applications for word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, graphics
and project management. He is skilled in computer-aided drawing, HTML,
XML and the Visual Basic language.
Away from work, when relaxing, Dennis likes to fish, go
sailing, compose music or just tinker with electronics.
